Corporate Social Responsibility
At Interclamp, we recognise the value of our local communities and are committed to making a positive contribution to them. We strongly believe in investing in our people and giving back to society.
Interclamp - a Living Wage Employer
In the UK, Interclamp has been accredited as a Living Wage Employer since April 2021. Despite our Head Office being based in Wales, an area with one of the highest proportions of non-Living Wage jobs in the UK (21%), we voluntarily made the decision to pay a minimum hourly wage independently calculated according to the cost of living and which is significantly higher than the government minimum for over 21s. It provides a benchmark for employers that wish to ensure their staff earn a wage they can live on, not just the government minimum.
At the time of our accreditation, Laura Gardiner, Director, Living Wage Foundation said: “We’re delighted that Interclamp has joined the movement of over 7,000 responsible employers across the UK who voluntarily commit to go further than the government minimum to make sure all their staff earn enough to live on.
“They join thousands of small businesses, as well as household names such as Burberry, Barclays, Everton Football Club and many more. These businesses recognise that paying the real Living Wage is the mark of a responsible employer and they, like Interclamp, believe that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay."
The Interclamp Group is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to a policy of treating all its employees and job applicants equally and to avoid unlawful discrimination in all aspects of employment.
It is our policy to take all reasonable steps to employ and promote employees on the basis of their abilities and qualifications and to appoint, train, develop and promote on the basis of merit and ability alone.
We have carefully selected local charities to receive donations to their causes on a regular basis. This way, we reach far beyond our industry and the sectors in which we operate, directly supporting the wider local community. Amongst others, we donate to Kids Cancer Charity, formerly Christian Lewis Trust, supporting families, children and teenagers affected by cancer and Greenacres Rescue, a Pembrokeshire-based animal rescue centre and winner of the 2020 Animal Star Awards.
Our principal UK sites, including offices and warehouses, are based adjacent to the Milford Haven Waterway and close to the fragile ecosystems of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, so we have always been very conscious of the need to respect the environment beyond legal and regulatory requirements.
Over more recent years, we have introduced a strict Environmental Management System to cover all aspects of our operations and expect a similar approach from our supply chain. We are committed to reducing our environmental impact and continually improving our environmental performance as an integral part of our business strategy and operating methods. Areas covered include waste materials and recycling, transport, energy and water, office supplies, cleaning, maintenance and the overall culture within our group of global companies.
Corporate Climate Responsibility
Climate change is apparent in the world around us, whether it be extreme weather and bushfires occasionally affecting our deliveries to customers in Australia or the retreat of glaciers being monitored by one of our European customers in the high mountains of the Alps. As a result, our group of companies acknowledges that the climate is indeed changing and recognises that we have a corporate climate responsibility to take into account.
Whilst our Environmental Management System outlined above is the keystone to our contribution to the mitigation of climate change, we also recognise that logistics, in particular the movement of goods from factory gate to our door and onward distribution to our client, form a large proportion of our operations. We therefore collect and store full data on the CO2 emissions of each consignment and frequently substitute road freight for rail as much as possible in our products’ journey from factory to our door.
